Union Boss Says Obama Would Support EFCA In Second Term

Washington, D.C. (September 6, 2012)  – The Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) today issued the following statement in response to Jimmy Hoffa, General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters stating President Barack Obama will seek to enact job-killing measures and Big Labor paybacks in a second term, namely the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act (EFCA):

“Today’s revelation is proof positive that union bosses will stop at nothing to promote job-killing policies that punish workers and further damage our economy,” said Fred Wszolek, spokesperson for the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI).  “The fact that Jimmy Hoffa would say President Obama is interested in advancing legislation that would eliminate the secret ballot and empower government bureaucrats to mandate contracts on employees and employers tells job creators everything they need to know.  The Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act has been rejected time and again, and whether it’s this Congress or the next, neither the American people nor their representatives will ever allow this flawed legislation to move forward.”

Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa Says President Obama Would Push EFCA In Second Term:

“Teamsters President Jim Hoffa said in an interview that Obama would try to push through union-friendly measures like the Employee Free Choice Act in a second term.  ‘We’ve got to motivate people to get out and vote.  That’s what this is all about,’ Hoffa told Michigan delegates on Wednesday.”(David Shepardson, “Labor Gears Up For Fall Fight,” The Detroit News, 9/6/12)
