Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act Lacks Support In U.S. Senate
September 24, 2009
Washington, D.C. (September 24, 2009) – The Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) today issued the following statement in response to news reports that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has named Paul G. Kirk, Jr. to temporarily fill the seat of the late Senator Edward Kennedy:

“Today’s announcement by the Massachusetts Governor does not change in any way the status of the debate concerning the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act.  Union boss supporters on Capitol Hill do not have sufficient support to make this job-killing bill the law of the land,” said Katie Packer, executive director of the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI).  “EFCA will eliminate the secret ballot and place decisions in the hands of government bureaucrats disallowing workers from having a say in contract negotiations.  The small business community stands united in opposition to any legislation that diminishes worker rights or produces job loss and we will continue to make our voices heard in this debate.”
