Washington, D.C. (February 2, 2010) – The Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) today released the following statement in advance of today’s hearing in the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions concerning the nomination of Harold Craig Becker to be a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB):
“Craig Becker’s views that Big Labor should wield absolute control over small businesses are deeply troubling and speak to the fact that union bosses and their cronies are more interested in lining their own pockets than creating jobs,” said Katie Packer, executive director of the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI). “Through administrative action, Becker would direct in the NLRB what labor bosses have been unable to achieve in the legislature, key elements of the job-killing Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act. EFCA would eliminate the secret ballot and allow government to mandate contract terms on employers and employees alike without their consent. Small business owners and workers from across the country should stand united against the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act whether it’s in the U.S. Congress or NLRB.”
